I stumbled the Pict in a site where its publisher was furious, demanding that the Filipino General be sacked, demoted, or something to that. More likely picture was taken in one of VFA’s Balikatan joint military exercise.
No, in the army they have courses such as ‘transporting the wounded or the sick’. And our gallant General, shown piggyback, was courteous enough to demonstrate himself how such operation is done properly.
Uh uh, OK, The message seems to be that real warriors can fight better when their shoes, socks and pants are dry, and not when their feet are wet and cold!
I found the picture strikingly irresistible not to snatch. The nearest match to it in my mind is the picture of the historic beach-head of General Douglas MacArthur in Palo, Leyte in 1944. But I can’t imagine General MacArthur on the back of, say Colonel Carlos P. Romulo, one of his side kicks. To be offered help even in the most difficult situation is insult to an able-bodied soldier actually.
